Happy Torch Day!

On this day, two years ago I was getting ready to carry the Olympic Torch! It was a beautifully warm day and the excitement was building for what would soon turn out to be one of the greatest days of my life so far. It would also turn out to be the beginning of a brilliant diabetes journey.

By coincidence today is also the day that the Queen's Baton Relay reached the slightly rainy shores of Wales in preparation of the Commonewealth Games. This relay began with fellow athlete Rhys Williams at the Royal Mint this morning, pleased to be starting the relay on behalf of young people involved in sport in Wales.

My support slogan banner provided by Coca Cola for my family to hold up whilst I did my Olympic Torch leg was 'Go Mel! raising the torch for diabetes and sport'. This is a sentiment that I still hold true and have high hopes for the future of sport and diabetes.
