Finish For Matt

As many of you who took an interest in the London Marathon that took place on Sunday may know, sadly, Matt Campbell who you may also recognise from being a contestant on the television programme Masterchef, collapsed at mile mark 22.5 and never recovered.

I remember watching him on the most recent Masterchef Professionals series and thinking what an inspirational and talented chef he was, sharing his passion for healthy eating with people everywhere, whilst showing his flair for creativity in the food he served.

The running community in the UK and beyond is a dedicated one and so many of us want to show our solidarity and support for the cause that Matt was running for. Therefore, my friend Lucy - an international long-distance runner has organised a run event this evening in dedication to Matt, to take place in Cardiff. All runners of all abilities are welcome.

We will be meeting outside City Hall at 6:30pm and running the 3.7 mile distance that he would have run to finish the Marathon and many will be making an optional donation to the Brathay Trust, the young people's charity that Matt was running the London Marathon in aid of.
